How to add a booking button to your restaurant website

To add a booking button to your restaurant website, get the booking link or embed code from your booking system, place a “Book a table” button in your site’s header and on your home page, and use the same link on your Google Business Profile and social media bios. Keep the form short: date, time, party size, name and contact details. Every extra step loses bookings.

Where the button should go

Guests should never have to look for it. The places that matter most:

  • The header, on every page, so it is visible wherever someone lands.
  • The top of the home page, next to your opening hours.
  • The menu page. People read the menu and decide to book in the same minute.
  • The contact page, next to your phone number.

On phones, a button that stays at the bottom or top of the screen as the guest scrolls works well.

Button or embedded form?

There are two common ways to add booking:

  • A button that opens the booking form, in a popup or a new page. It works on any website and keeps your pages tidy.
  • The full form embedded on a page, usually a dedicated “Book” page. Guests see dates and times straight away.

Many restaurants use both: a button in the header and a full form on the booking page.

What the booking form should ask

Ask only what you need to run the booking:

  1. Date and time
  2. Party size
  3. Name, phone number and email
  4. An optional note for allergies, high chairs or occasions

If you ask for a card to secure the table, say why in one sentence on the form, and state your no-show fee before the guest confirms.

Your website isn’t the only place people decide to book. Put the same booking link:

  • on your Google Business Profile, in the booking or website link;
  • in your Instagram and Facebook bios;
  • in your email signature and any newsletters;
  • on a QR code on your takeaway menu or receipts.

One link everywhere means one list of bookings for the team.

Check it on your phone

Most guests book on a phone. After adding the button, book a table yourself on your phone: tap the button, choose a time, fill in the form. If anything is slow or confusing, your guests feel it too.

How ForStars fits

ForStars gives every restaurant a public booking link and an embed for its own website: a full booking form on the page, or a button that opens booking in a popup. Bookings land straight on the team’s live floor plan, next to phone bookings and walk-ins. See features.

Questions owners ask

Do I need a developer to add a booking button?

Usually not. Most website builders let you add a button with a link, or paste an embed snippet into a page.

Will online booking replace phone bookings?

Not entirely. Many guests still call, especially for large groups. Online booking takes the routine ones off the phone so staff can focus on service.
